Mental Health and Substance Use Resources

  • The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline offers 24/7 call, text and chat access to trained crisis counselors who can help people experiencing suicidal, substance use, and/or mental health crisis, or any other kind of emotional distress.   • BH Link provides immediate access to behavioral healthcare in a community-based, 24/7 facility located at 975 Waterman Ave East Providence. If you or someone you love is going through a mental health or substance use crisis, call 988 or visit https://www.bhlink.org/.

    Rhode Island has a network of six private, nonprofit licensed community mental health centers across the state that provide emergency services, general and intensive community-based outpatient treatment, substance use treatment, case management and other services. Health Insurance

  • HealthSource RI (HSRI) is the state’s marketplace for buying and comparing health insurance plans. Individuals apply for health coverage through HSRI and depending upon their income, they may be eligible for Medicaid or eligible to purchase an insurance plan (possibly with financial assistance). Bus Passes

  • Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) offers a special Reduced Fare Bus Pass Program that allows qualifying low-income seniors (age 65 or over) and low-income persons with disabilities to travel free for two years. Visit: https://www.ripta.com/seniors/
